PRIVACY REQUEST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Is PropStream a data broker?

EquiMine d/b/a PropStream is not a data broker because the PropStream App does not collect and sell "personal information." The information the PropStream App collects is lawfully made available to the general public, or gathered from federal, state, and/or local government records.

  2. If you aren’t a data broker, why are you listed as a data broker?

EquiMine d/b/a PropStream did not register with the California data broker registry in 2025 and has been taken off the current list of 2025 data brokers. Prior to that time, we were registered as a data broker out of an abundance of caution because the information we collect may incidentally include names and addresses of individuals related to real estate properties. However, information that is publicly available is not considered “personal information” under applicable data broker laws.

  3. What about the information PropStream end users receive from third party vendors?

Where our end users (business customers) of the PropStream App request information through a third party that is visible through their PropStream Account, that third party is the controller of the information. The PropStream App does not use or disclose any data provided by third parties to end users.

  4. Why do you need to know my relationship with PropStream?

PropStream is required to respond to applicable privacy requests from end users that are residents of California and certain other states with comprehensive data privacy laws or residents of certain jurisdictions outside of the United States. However, PropStream will respond to all applicable privacy requests of a current or past end user of the PropStream App.

  5. What information does PropStream make available to its users about properties?

PropStream collects and aggregates information about parcels of property for realtors, property investors, and flippers. This information is publicly available information, which is generally defined as information that is lawfully made available to the general public , or from federal, state, or local government records and may include government documents and official records (like property records or court filings) and other materials that have been officially disseminated. These types of records typically include a range of data points that provide a complete picture of a property’s identity, characteristics, and history. While the specifics can vary by jurisdiction and the purpose of the record, common components include:

    1. Ownership details, such as owner’s name and contact information and parcel or property identification number.
    2. Location and legal description, such as physical address and legal description of the property.
    3. Physical characteristics, such as size and dimensions, building details, and zoning and land use: any applicable zoning classifications.
    4. Valuation and tax information, such as assessed value, market value and tax history.
    5. Sales and transaction history, such as sales price and dates and mortgage, lien, and encumbrance data.
    6. Court records that impact the status of a property, for example civil filings or liens against the property.

Publicly available information is not “personal information”, as that term is defined under data privacy laws. PropStream does not make available “personal information” about property owners. However, our users may engage a third party to obtain additional contact information of properties they are interested in. For more information see FAQ question #3 above.
